Allt a'Mhuillin cottage ('Mill by the stream', pronounced 'alta-voolin) on the outskirts of the charming Loch Ness-side village of Dores, is an attractive and sympathetically converted former meal mill set into its own fenced and gated grounds. It now provides luxury self catering holiday cottage accommodation in a unique setting just a short walk to the shores of Loch Ness. At the back of the mill flows a delightful little burn that once provided the power for turning the millstones. One of these original stones can now be seen as an attractive feature in the garden. This self catering cottage offers a private and tranquil holiday base, fully insulated, double glazed and equipped to a high standard to provide for your year round enjoyment and comfort. The addition of the log fire turns a cold winter night into a cosy romantic experience that stays with you forever.

A five minute walk from your holiday cottage brings you to the shores of Loch Ness and the Dores Inn, a cosy pub built on the shores of Loch Ness serving excellent meals all year round. Allt a' Mhuilinn offers an ideal base from which to explore the Scottish Highlands either as an active participant or simply to relax in the wonderful scenery. The Highland Capital city Inverness is only 8 miles away and is well served by road, rail and air links. Allt a' Mhuilinn has turned out to be a favourite honeymoon destination for couples seeking a quiet cottage hideaway or romantic holiday accommodation close to Loch Ness.

Ground Floor

The master bedroom has a King size bed and, unusually, features French doors which open onto the garden.
The second bedroom has full size bunks and a built in wardrobe. (Although the beds are full size this room is very small and is more suitable for children).
Bathroom has underfloor heating and includes bath with shower over, basin, toilet, shaver adaptor and hairdrier.

First Floor

This is an upside-down house with the living room upstairs to better appreciate the views from the well apportioned open-plan living room/dining room/kitchen.
The house has electric central heating, complemented by a solid fuel stove in the lounge area.
The lounge includes satellite digital colour flat screen television & DVD, radio/cassette player and payphone, comfortable seating and, of course, the log fire.
The dining area has a table to seat four comfortably and the kitchen is well appointed with an electric cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee maker, dishwasher and washing machine. Ironing facilities are also provided. Drying room available for wet outdoor clothes.

General details

All beds supplied with duvets, pillows and bed linen. Feather pillows are supplied but if you have an allergy please advise as we have non-allergenic also.
All electricity, logs and coal for the lounge fire.
Pets - one well behaved dog welcome by arrangement.
Ample off road parking.
Although Allt a'Mhuilinn will sleep 4 it is ideal for 2 adults and 2 children as the bunk room is very small.
Cot, high chair and stairgate available on request.
