If you are planning a holiday in the Scottish Borders or if you have been invited to a reception at Wedderburn Castle, our self-catering cottages are the very best you will find. Maintained to the highest standard and cared for by the castle staff you will experience a similar level of comfort to a room in the castle itself.
GARDEN COTTAGE Garden Cottage (1x king-size bed, sleeps 2) was re-built in 2007 to form a spacious, contemporary self-catering cottage, adjoining the West Gate to the castle grounds. The original building dates from around 1820 and forms a part of the West Gate and the grade 'A' listed policy wall. Garden Cottage is an intimate romantic hideaway for two. Adjacent to the former kitchen garden at Wedderburn, it has uninterrupted vistas to the South facade of the castle and the Cheviot Hills. The first floor bedroom has a king-size double bed and a full-height window framing the view of the castle. The luxurious bathroom has a 1.9m bath and shower. A huge stone fireplace, complete with wood-burning stove, provides the focal point for the sitting room and the bright kitchen has French doors looking out across a spacious private lawn to the front. The floorboards that now add to the warm, atmospheric feel of the cottage were all cut from a single ancient ash tree that grew beside the castle and fell in a storm. GROOM'S COTTAGE - The Groom's Cottage forms a part of the Stables on the North drive and is only a two minute walk from the castle.
- The Groom's cottage is a very pretty little place for two.
- It shares a lawn with the Keeper's cottage next door but fear not, the walls are sound proof!
- On the ground floor you will find a kitchen sitting room with an open fire and tiles salvaged from the old dairy at Paxton House.
- Upstairs is a cosy double bedroom (sleeps 2, travel cot by arrangement) and in the bathroom a lovely restored roll-top iron bath.
