Cliasmol is halfway, or about 7 miles, along the B887 to Hushinish. The village is sheltered, with immediate access to the North Harris hills and within easy reach of good tracks for walking.

Accommodation  
  • Accommodation at The Old Place is open plan, ideally suited to one or two adults, with one or two small children.
  • At the west end are a woodburning stove, a sofabed and futon, a chest of drawers and a wardrobe; at the east end are the bathroom and kitchen area, table and chairs, and also a single bed.
  • The kitchen is well equipped, with electric cooker, kettle, toaster and refrigerator (small freezer compartment) and a full range of crockery and cutlery.
  • The bathroom has a large electric shower, washbasin and toilet, and heated towel rail.
  • The use of a washing machine is included.
  • Parking space is available next to the cottage.
Local services
There is a range of shops in Tarbert, covering essentials, and some gift shops. A wider range of shops and large supermarkets are available in Stornoway. There are several good restaurants, hotels and other places for eating out in Harris.

Price
Rental prices are inclusive. Discounts may be available for longer stays and for return visits.

How to get here  
  • Travelling by road, there are ferries Monday to Saturday between Uig in Skye and Tarbert, Harris, and every day between Ullapool and Stornoway.
  • By car, Cliasmol is less than half an hour from Tarbert and about an hour from Stornoway.
  • Coach services (e.g. Scottish Citylink) run to Uig and Ullapool, and there are regular buses Monday-Saturday between Stornoway, Tarbert and Leverburgh. Buses between Tarbert and Hushinish are limited. Bus timetables are available on the council website (please ask me for details).
  • Travelling by air, flights are quite frequent between Edinburgh or Glasgow and Stornoway, seven days a week. Hire cars can be arranged for collection at Stornoway airport.
