The village of Tomich is a 'model' village built in the nineteenth century to service Guisachan Estate and the now ruined Guisachan House. Number 22 Tomich sits in an elevated position overlooking farm land to the hills beyond. The cottage has been completely refurbished in the autumn of 2004 to provide a new, fully equipped kitchen, upgraded bathroom with excellent shower, electric heating, new carpeting and decoration throughout. Tomich is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty and is a superb base for walking, cycling, bird watching or simple relaxation in a tranquil setting. The Glen Affric National Nature Reserve is on the doorstep offering spectacular scenery and magnificent walking including a number of Munros. The famous Plodda Falls are a three mile walk (or cycle) away on a safe child friendly road. There is an abundance of wildlife including red deer, golden eagles and osprey.
Exciting brown trout fishing is available locally with a ghillie if required as is pony trekking and mountain bike hire. Within a 15 minute drive is a delightful 9 hole golf course and Loch Ness, Urquhart Castle and Fort Augustus are all within easy reach. If the weather is poor there is a small swimming pool in the village and Inverness, with its leisure pool, cinemas and shops, is a 45 minute drive away. The Tomich hotel offers good bar meals and is a two or three minute walk away from the cottage.
