This original stone built croft house is situated on the East Coast of the lovely Isle of Lewis approx 14 miles from the town of Stornoway, convenient for the airport and ferry terminal and less than 5 minutes walk from the Traigh Mhor ( pictured )and the popular Garry Sands, almost a mile of undisturbed golden sands all suitable for bathing and surfing.

Although original the cottage has been modernised to a good standard, however it still maintains many of its original features.
Golf, Fishing (sea and loch), Hillwalking, and Birdwatching are just some of the recreational pursuits to be enjoyed on the island, there is also the traditional Neolithic 'Standing Stones' of Callanish which predate the Egyptian Pyramids and the Pictish Carloway Broch, a 2000 year old dry stone fortified tower, which are well worth a visit on the west coast of the island.
The house is in the village of New Tolsta approx 14 miles from the town of Stornoway which is the main town on the island with modern up to date Superstores and a large choice of pubs and restaurants.
The village of Tolsta boasts one well stocked shop with a Post Office situated within a mile of the house.
There is a regular bus service from the village to Stornoway which connects with bus routes to all other areas of the island daily except Sunday.
Stornoway Airport is on the outskirts of the town with daily flights to the Scottish Mainland to Inverness and Glasgow, there is also a ferry terminal with daily ferries from Stornoway to Ullapool (twice daily during Summer months).
New Tolsta provides many opportunities for walking, with one of the island's most popular walks from the "Bridge to Nowhere" above Garry Beach along the high cliffs to the waterfall at "Abhainn na Cloiche" where a wealth of wildlife and seabirds can be seen; this walk takes about 30 minutes from the bridge, but for the more experienced there is the option of continuing along the coast following the green painted posts to Skigersta in Ness which will take approximately 4 hours one way, with some breathtaking views on the way.

Upstairs:

Two spacious bedrooms one double and one twin, both with traditional sloping ceilings.

Partial Double Glazing.
All electric with electric heating throughout.
Rental includes gas for cooking and first £20.00 of electricity, (electricity on key meter).
Bed Linen and Towels provided.
Regret no pets.

How to find us:

Lewis can be reached by ferry from Ullapool to Stornoway or from Uig Skye to Tarbert Harris (check with ferry company Caledonian MacBrayne for ferry times), there is also daily flights to Stornoway.
From the town of Stornoway take the A857 main route out of town to its junction with the B895 Signposted North Tolsta and follow this road to the village of North Tolsta continue through the village keep to the left at the war memorial continue on to the Post Office situated on the left side of the road and take the second right turn after the Post Office, the house is the 3rd on the right.
There is a private off road parking area at the back door of the house.

Saturday to Saturday.
Arrival time: 3pm unless arriving on evening ferry.
Departure times: 11am unless leaving with early morning ferry.
